Wheel hub Bearings Wheel hub bearings allow the wheel and tire assembly to turn freely
around the spindle, in the steering knuckle, or in the bearing support.
The hub and rotor assembly includes an inner and an outer set of
bearings, generally double-row angular contact ball bearings or tapered
roller bearings.
There are differences in the assembly of the driver and
the non-driver wheel hub. Flanged bearings, which are bolted to the
brake rotor, wheel and knuckle, are used in the non-driver hub. Where
plain or bearings with integral flanges can be used in the driver wheel
hub. Wheel bearings are lubricated with heavy, high-temperature grease,
allowing the operation with very little friction and wea
